GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.--Join KARE 11, HandsOn Twin Cities and 3M as we celebrate National Volunteer Week and help to inspire children in our community by volunteering with Kids in Need and Little Free Library on April 12.
Volunteers are invited to come out from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on April 12 at the Twin Cities Kids In Need Resource Center located at 729 Kasota Ave SE Minneapolis, MN 55414. Volunteers will be helping to pack school supply kits and build and decorate mobile libraries that bring reading and imagination to children in the community.
The Twin Cities Kids In Need Resource Center works with high poverty schools in St. Paul and Minneapolis by providing eligible teachers a free shopping visit at the free store. In addition, through the Caring Tree program, the organization awards grants to social service and other community-based agencies across the state to distribute backpacks and supplies to students in need.
Little Free Library promotes literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide. The concept is simple, take a book or two to enjoy from a beautifully decorated library and bring a couple back to share with your community.
