GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - One of the great celebrations of summer in the Twin Cities is the 48th annual Edina Art Fair held this Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8.

The event is in the 50th & France neighborhood of Edina and boasts over 300 fine artists and crafters from around the state, the U.S., and Canada.

Rachel Thelemann, Executive Director of the 50th & France Business Association and Ashley Barrow, 2014 Edina Art Fair Featured Artist, joined KARE 11 News @4 with the details.

According to Rachel:

An estimated 165,000 people will attend the three-day event which is nationally-recognized as the top art fair in Minnesota. It is the state's first official art fair of the year and its second largest.

Booths upon booths of ceramics, jewelry, glass, photography, wood carvings, mixed media, 2D pieces, fine art, wearables and sculptures will line the curbs of France Avenue, 50th Street and in the Lunds parking lot.

In addition to shopping, the Edina 5-0 parking lot will host the Community Art Project where fairgoers can help to create colorful murals and the "Foot in the Fair" which showcases artwork from students in grades 1 – 12. The area will also be home to a Kids Zone featuring family-friendly entertainment, a great place to take a rest in the shade while your children play.

FREE shuttle bus service will be provided from Southdale Shopping Center by Firestone to 50th & France by Lunds. Hours are Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. A bike corral will also be located in U.S. Bank's parking lot.

One hundred percent of merchandise sales from the 2014 Edina Art Fair will benefit the Lupus Foundation of Minnesota. Plus, a silent auction including pieces from participating artists will be held inside the Edina 5-0 Mall with 15 percent going to the organization.
