GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Want to make your cell phone "selfies" better?

Professional Photographer Peter Wong joined KARE 11 News @4 to give us some pointers.

  1. Check headroom. Make sure your group is the center of your attention.
  2. Don't include too much sky. Again, your group should capture your eye.
  3. "Selfies"- Take as many as you need to get the best shot. Erase all the rest.

Use a Gorilla type tripod that connects to your cell phone. You can find them at camera stores or online. They can attach to phones and wrap around any available branch or rail.

Look for the unexpected and you'll be on your way to some of the best pics you've taken.

Wong Photography Photo Safari Workshop to the Badlands National Park:

Late Summer/early Fall session: May 24th to 28th, 2014

Workshop Overview: This Photo Safari Workshop to the Badlands National Park in South Dakota will be a very exciting photographic adventure. The scenery alone will take your breath away. This workshop will be a combination of field and classroom sessions, concentrating on a different variety of subjects. Most of all I want to increase your power of perception and your ability to see beyond the idea of getting that "perfect landscape", and to help you capture images that you will be proud of. I will guide you in using lines, colors, subtle tones and other elements in your design to make your captures far more interesting than just mere snapshots.

There may be two instructors/photographers and we will be available to teach, help and guide you, from beginners to professionals, and everywhere in between. The trip will be open to 8 photographers. In addition, non-photographer spouses and friends are welcome to join us and enjoy the what the Badlands National Park offers.
