ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Ramsey County Sheriff's Department is asking for help from the public in locating a murder suspect.

Investigators say 44-year-old Lyle Marvin Hoffman, also known as Ty Hoffman, is their only suspect in the fatal shooting that took place Monday morning at a gas station in Arden Hills. The victim has been identified as an executive of Boston Scientific, a medical device company.

Boston Scientific said in a statement that 48-year-old Kelly Phillips will be remembered for his great skills as a lawyer, but also for his kindness and gentleness. Phillips was a vice president and general counsel and worked at the Arden Hills office, which is about two miles from where he was killed.

"We are devastated by yesterday's unexpected death of our dear friend and colleague, Kelly Phillips," the statement from Boston Scientific reads. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Kelly will be remembered not only for his great skills as a lawyer, but also for his kindness, gentleness and ability to make those around him feel better about themselves. He will be sorely missed by his many friends here at Boston Scientific."

He was also co-owner of Lush Food Bar in northeast Minneapolis.

The 48-year-old Phillips was shot Monday by another man after stepping out of their car at the Holiday gas station in Arden Hills. The shooter sped away.

Ramsey County sheriff's officials say the vehicle driven by the suspect was found in Blaine overnight. There have been no arrests, but authorities identified Hoffman, who KARE 11 confirms is the victim's ex-partner.
