MINNEAPOLIS - Crews used controlled explosive charges to demolish the roof structure of the Metrodome.

At 7:30 a.m. Sunday, crews used the explosives to demolish a concrete ring beam. The demolition plan had to be revised after a section of the ring beam came down out of sequence on Monday.

Officials warned that neighbors might experience vibration, dust and noise during the demolition. Nearby roads were closed for safety reasons from 5:30 a.m. to about 9 a.m.

The light rail station at the Metrodome will also be closed during that time frame, and buses will be used to shuttle passengers between other stations.
