MINNEAPOLIS - A national news anchor was arrested at Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Wednesday afternoon.
Metropolitan Airports Commission spokesman Patrick Hogan says police arrested FOX News Channel's Gregg Jarrett around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police were called to Northern Lights Grill in Terminal One. When they got there, they say Jarrett seemed intoxicated, acted belligerently and refused to follow their orders.
They took the 59-year-old network anchor to the Hennepin County Jail. He was charged with interfering with a peace officer, which is a misdemeanor.
The jail website shows that Jarrett posted a $300 bail. He was released from jail shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
A FOX News spokeswoman says Jarrett is dealing with "personal issues" in a statement released late Thursday morning:
"We were made aware late last night that Gregg Jarrett was arrested in Minneapolis yesterday and charged with a misdemeanor. He is dealing with serious personal issues at this time. A date at which Gregg might return to air has yet to be determined."
Online records show Jarrett has a court appearance scheduled for June 6.
The website TVNEWSER reported earlier this month that Jarrett was taken off FOX's weekend newscasts in mid-May after requesting a leave of absence for personal reasons.
