GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Minnesota Golden Gophers super sophomore Hannah Brandt just missed out on winning the Patty Kazmaier Award, given to the top female hockey player in the nation.

Clarkson Senior Jamie Lee Rattray beat out Brandt and Jillian Saulnier of Cornell for the award.

"Congratulations to Jamie Lee. She really deserved it," said Brandt. "I just got to meet her (on Saturday). She's very deserving of it, so I am happy for her."

Coach Brad Frost said just being nominated is still a tremendous honor

"There's a lot of great players that have not won the Patty Kazmaier Award … Hannah's got a bright future, obviously," said Frost.
