MINNEAPOLIS - At the end of last season, Jason Kubel came to Target Field with the Cleveland Indians. He was reminded of how much he missed playing in Minnesota.
During a talk with manager Ron Gardenhire, a seed was planted for a return to the Twins.
And now Kubel is back, a past-his-prime outfielder to regain his power-hitting form. He's not the only former member of Gardenhire's playoff teams who'll be present in spring training next month, either. Shortstop Jason Bartlett was out of baseball last year, but he was also signed to a minor league contract.
Bartlett could push Pedro Florimon for playing time and compete for a roster spot as a utility player.
