MINNEAPOLIS - The dismantling of the Twins daily lineup continued Thursday with word that the club has traded center fielder Sam Fuld to Oakland for a left-handed starting pitcher.

Fuld returns to the Athletics, the team that put him on waivers April 20, allowing the Twins to claim him. In exchange for the veteran outfielder the Twins get 27-year-old lefthander Tommy Milone.

Milone made 16 starts for the Athletics this year, posting a record of 6 wins and 3 losses with a 3.55 ERA. He was optioned to Oakland's Triple-A club July 5.He has started 78 games at the major league level. Milone will report to the Twins Triple-A affiliate in Rochester, NY.

In 53 games with the Twins Sam Fuld hit .274 with 10 doubles and 1 home run, with 17 runs batted in.

To fill Fuld's roster spot the Twins recalled first baseman Kennys Vargas from Double-A New Britain.
