EAGAN, Minn. - There are no Minnesotans on the U.S. Ski jumping team, but the athletes who are on the team are covered head to toe with Minnesota garb.
"We just love to make it here in Minnesota," said Joel Wiens, CEO of WSI Sports, in Eagan. "We'll come in at midnight some nights to develop some things.
WSI's latest development is a suit that used the skier's own body heat to keep them warm. The U.S. Ski Team is wearing the suit in Sochi.
"It's going to give us a lot of great international exposure." says Wiens.
The ski team is only one of WSI's clients. The company serves a number of professional athletes. In fact, WSI was recently called on to get warm gear to Green Bay for the San Francisco 49er's game with the Packers.
Wiens founded WSI when he was in high school. He started with $3,000 and his mother and grandmother helped with sewing his first products.
WSI operates out of Eagan where everything is designed onsite The sewing is done offsite.
